A moral people are required for
good government because nobody can govern an immoral people. Moral people will
break the law less and make fewer mistakes. A government is also made of
people, so if the people are not moral then the government won’t be moral
either.
According
to John Locke, the purpose of government is to protect the people’s life,
health, liberty, and property. An immoral government would do the opposite.
They would take away all of those things, then the government would fall apart
and there would be no purpose in even having a government. That is why a moral
people are required for good government.
